Every business owner, celebrity, musician, public figure, and internet marketer is wondering the same thing right now… When can we register the first official Google Plus fan pages. Although Google+ fan pages or ‘business profiles’ are technically not available as of yet, there are a number of companies that have been grandfathered in, like the Mashable tech blog, Starbucks, and Ford.
In this video, Google product manager, Christian Oestlien, asks businesses to kindly refrain from registering brands, businesses, and fan pages on Google+ personal profile pages.
As designers and programmers, we are hopeful in regards to the direction Google Plus will go with their fan pages and business profiles. We’re monitoring the status on fan pages on Google so that we can relay that information here and also offer up advice on how to implement some of the new developments.
It appears from this sample Google Plus Business Page that the ‘about page’ can be customized beyond the available fields you’ll find in your Google Plus personal profile to add video, custom images, and most likely custom linking.
And, what else is down the road? Will we see custom social plugins like Facebook now offers where you will be able to embed customized Google Plus media into your website? I’m sure we’ll see some incredible things in the near future. Stay tuned to our blog and definitely subscribe to get updates.
